Content Manager, Group Communications

Fortum Group Communications is responsible for Group-level internal and external communications to a variety of stakeholders as well as for global and national media relations and news flow. We also develop the operating model of Fortum communications, including processes, tools and best practice sharing.

Our over 20 communications professionals work in Finland, Sweden, Norway and Germany. Our operating model is story and insight driven, business oriented and focused on activating dialogue.

In total, Fortum’s communications community comprises of some 60 communications professionals and some 80 more in our subsidiary Uniper.

About the role

We want to create content that impacts and engages our key stakeholders externally and internally, inviting them to a dialogue with us. Your primary role is to drive and develop our content management process, ensuring that our content is both relevant and inspiring to our stakeholders and aligned with our strategy. You are also responsible for own content planning, production and impact measurement together with our country communicators and partner agencies. The main channels for our own content are our websites and social media channels. You also develop and lead our stakeholder insight process for Group Communications.  

Your work includes setting up project plans, schedules, goals, KPIs and metrics for different topics both for tactical performance and for long-term impact. At times, you take the role of the project manager in our campaigns or other stakeholder engagement initiatives. You convert the data collected into new insights about our stakeholders and what kind of content they are interested in. You constantly develop the process to make it more effective and efficient.

You work closely with our brand team to ensure one voice for Fortum brand in all channels. This includes development of the Fortum Story, key messages and tone of voice. You are also involved in different types of Group Communications projects and take turns as the News Desk on-duty officer. The possible locations for this role are Espoo, Stockholm and Düsseldorf. You must to able to travel to Fortum headquarters in Espoo occasionally.  

You report to Head of Communications, External Dialogue.

What we are looking for

We are looking for a communications or marketing professional with a suitable university degree and at least 5 years of agency or in-house experience. Project management experience for example in an agency is considered an asset.

Relevant energy sector experience is a plus but not a requirement. You have full professional profiency in English (CEFR C1), fluency in Finnish or Swedish is preferred.

You are the right person for the job if you have strong skills in project management and you feel comfortable in managing multiple project streams on tight schedules. You need to have good interpersonal skills and you need to able to coordinate information flows from different parts of the organization. You have proven track record of successful project management.

You have an eye for emerging topics happening in our operational environment and creativity to convert the ideas into impactful communications. You have a stakeholder-oriented mindset and you know how to acquire and leverage stakeholder insight.

You have strong understanding of the external digital channels e.g. web and social media and their metrics. You also understand ways to create traction in public debate and the media.
