City Solutions division is responsible for developing sustainable city solutions into a growing business for Fortum. The division comprises heating and cooling, waste-to-energy, recycling and expertise sales.

Your role

You will be working as Environmental Manager at Fortum Recycling & Waste business area in Finland. Environmental team is part of Waste Management Services Finland. You and your team's role is to ensure environmentally sustainable performance by planning needed activities for local legal compliance, coordinating and leading the environmental aspect assessment and supervising the permitting and EIA processes. You’ll support mitigating actions and trainings in environment related areas to ensure high level environmental performance and protection of our business.

As a key person at Recycling & Waste with major contribution to our Environmental issues you will be working in close co-operation with our EHQS specialists. In addition to R&W operations you’ll co-operate closely with environmental authorities, social communities within the area of influence and manage cross function co-operations in matrix organization with multiple geographic operational sites.

Your qualifications

In order to be successful in this position, we expect you to have:

  • Profound knowledge of Finnish and EU environmental legislation and enforcement
  • Experience in environmental permit processes and working with authorities. Solid understanding of environmental impact assessment procedures
  • Excellent communication and co-operational skills, experience in working with authorities and creating written documents
  • MSc degree in relevant field
  • Experience and knowledge regarding environmental and waste handling issues
  • Good organizational skills and ability to handle several tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to communicate fluently in Finnish and English
