Marketing and Communications Manager, Automation

Business Unit Automation is driving an exciting and revolutionary transformation in the mining industry. Our offering includes the AutoMine® product family, which provides solutions for fully automated and robotic mining technologies for underground and surface mining. We also have the best in class software solution, OptiMine®, for process optimization and analytics. It creates full-process transparency and control of mining operations, including real time 3D-graphics based process control, artificial intelligence and predictive data analytics technologies.

We are currently looking for a creative and committed Marketing and Communications Manager to lead and execute marketing of our world-leading AutoMine® and OptiMine® automation and information products that are revolutionizing mining operations and processes. Besides marketing activities, such as development of assets and events, in this role you are expected to effectively communicate both internally and externally, and confidently represent the Business Unit Automation in the global business environment.

This job includes a high degree of collaboration with many other functions, such as marketing teams of other Sandvik divisions and sales areas, product management and sales teams. As a manager, you will also lead a small team of direct reports. This position is based in Tampere, Finland and reports to the Director of Automation Global Business Development and Marketing.

Your role

You are responsible for Business Unit Automation’s marketing and communications, and to succeed in this role you are required to:

  • Lead and drive execution of product promotion and launches as well as creation of brand-consistent marketing assets and collateral, working with other business partners to deliver business results.
  • Work closely with global and local sales and customer-facing functions to ensure that the marketing messages are conveyed in a way that makes the value and capabilities of the products easily understandable to customers.
  • Take ownership of both external and internal communications, ensure high quality of announcements, publications and sharing of information and materials across selected digital platforms.
  • Manage planning and arrangements of various in-person and virtual marketing events.
  • Contribute to business planning by developing a marketing strategy and budget consistent with the organization’s overall objectives. Suggest new ideas and establish a vision for the marketing direction.

Your profile and background

We are looking for a strong and energetic marketing leader with at least five years of experience in similar roles combined with good communication and team leading skills. In minimum a Bachelor level education is required for the role. The ideal candidate has an innovative and passionate approach on marketing high technology products and solutions in an industrial environment. In our fast-changing business environment it is essential to work proactively and systematically with focus on delivering outstanding and timely results. Effective international networking and willingness to travel internationally are expected in this job. Fully fluent, native-level command of English is required for both written and spoken communications including public speaking and proofreading of marketing documentation.
