Product Manager, Surface Drilling Division

At Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions, we deliver pioneering products and solutions to our global customers within the mining and construction segment. Part of our exciting business is the Surface Drilling Division, where our intelligent surface drill rigs bring the latest technology to surface mining and construction applications – we’d like to call it true power with absolute precision!

We are now looking for a proactive and customer-focused Product Manager for a permanent position in Tampere, Finland. This role reports directly to VP R&D and Product Management, Surface Drilling.

Your role

You work as Product Manager leading the product offering development by creating future offering strategy and vision. You translate long and short-term customer needs to technical requirements and work with the engineering team to develop solutions to meet those needs. As a business case owner and sponsor for new development projects in your area of responsibility you make sure new products meet set acceptance criteria before launch.

Your key responsibility areas include:

• Technical and business ownership of the products in your responsibility area, including both new product development and lifecycle management of existing products
• Competitor and market analysis
• Product specifications and pricing plans
• Developing and maintaining product & technology roadmaps with other product managers and key R&D personnel
• Creating value propositions for new and existing products and communication to sales organization through product brochures and other marketing material

Your background and what we find important

We are looking for someone with a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other related field of study. You are interested in combining technical knowledge with business knowledge. You have several years’ experience working with mobile machinery, preferably in mining or construction industry. Drill rig knowledge is seen as a plus.  Most importantly, you have the drive to continuously improve both products and the ways they are developed. You are a good team player and able to work in international multi-cultural environment. Fluent spoken and written English is expected.
