Head of Electrical and Automation Design

Helsinki Shipyard is a global leader in designing and manufacturing of the most advanced icebreakers. Helsinki Shipyard is also a well-recognized within the passenger vessel industry as a boutique shipyard delivering finest products for all conditions. Helsinki Shipyard has currently three exploration cruise vessels in order book.

We are looking for Head of Electrical and Automation design to take the overall lead in this design discipline. The position forms an integral part of Helsinki Shipyard’s Design Management team. The responsibilities of this role include:

• Lead the electrical and automation design team.
• Continuously improve operational excellence of the design team.
• Technical and cost definition of the ship product during the project sales and early design phases, together with our customers.
• Create and follow Project execution plans for the vessels within the order book.
• Nominate design team for the vessels in the order book.
• Ensure that plan approval and workshop design are completed within the planned schedule.
• Ensure smooth cooperation with both external and internal stakeholders.
• Follow the technical development of the industry and create training plans for the team.
• Create and follow annual budget.

Head of Electrical and Automation design ensures that Helsinki Shipyards products are equipped with cost efficient and the most environmentally friendly systems and solutions, fulfilling all needs of our customers.

To excel in this role, an ideal candidate has:

• Master’s degree, preferably in Electrical or Automation Engineering, Naval Architecture, Industrial Engineering and Management or other relevant field of study.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• People and Customer orientated mind set.
• Strive to reach excellence in daily work.
• Commitment to lead the electrical and automation design team to exceed set targets.
• Minimum 5 years of experience on electrical and/or automation design in challenging project design environment, either from ship building, shipping or land based industries.
