ŸTo strengthen our Valmet Industrial Internet Analytics and Applications team, we are looking for a Lead Data Engineer. You shall be based in Tampere or Jyväskylä, Finland.

Our Data Engineering work consists of two sides: 1. Developing our own Timeseries Database and Connectivity System and 2. Managing Data Pipelines and Data Structures. You are experienced or interested in developing data processing related technologies and managing data processes in both on-premise and cloud environments.

For the first portion, you are familiar with how data processing related efficiency is achieved. Technology-wise you are comfortable with C++ development. For the second side, ideally you have worked with data sources such as on-premise historian systems like SQL Databases, OSI PI and IP21, as well as cloud file systems such as S3. You have experience in creating ETL-processes with Matillion as well as Apache Airflow. Database modelling is something you have done before. Building Snowpipe pipelines as well as managing Snowflake-based data structures and database administration tasks are your typical work. You understand how databases are optimized for process data analysis purposes. Even though you might only have some of the experience, we’d still like to hear from you as there most likely are things you already know and what you would like to learn.

What is expected from you?

ŸYou have a University Degree in Computer Science or Mathematics and have worked in challenging process data analysis before. As a person you are very conscientious and precise. You take high pride in the quality of work you deliver to make sure your solutions work. You shall become familiar with the specifics of our customer industries including, Pulp, Paper, Energy, Tissue and Marine.

ŸTo make sure you can succeed in your work, we have already built a team for you. Your key team members consist of the following: Our Valmet Automation Chief Data Architect who used to be our Lead Data Engineer. With them you shall collaborate in defining fit-for-purpose data models. Our Software Developers for TSDB and related technology. With them you shall continue developing our Software. Our Data Engineers, whom with you shall maintain our data pipelines and data. Added to this, you shall collaborate with our Software Development and Applications and Data Science –teams.
