UPM Specialty Papers is looking for an Operations Manager for the Jämsänkoski Mill.

What you’ll do

You lead the production operations of one of the two paper lines at the Jämsänkoski Specialty Papers mill according to the objectives, strategy and business needs of the Specialty Papers business area. Through your work, you enable the production organization to reach their targets for safety, production efficiency, quality, cost and customer expectations. We want to be a world class production site with zero accidents and high production efficiency and productivity. Together with your team, the product development and maintenance organizations you continuously develop production capabilities to ensure efficiency and cost competitiveness of the product portfolio. You ensure all operations are following relevant ISO standards as well as UPM Safety Standards.

You combine solid expertise about the paper making process and technology with strong people leadership skills. Your team consists of both seasoned paper professionals as well as younger talent also in both engineering and shopfloor roles, and coaching and supporting their performance is an integral part of your work. You actively develop the team culture of the operations team, guided by the UPM values (Trust and be Trusted, Achieve Together and Renew with Courage). You cooperate closely with the production organizations of other Specialty Papers mills particularly in Europe.

Who you are

  • You have a strong background in the paper industry, with at least 5 years of experience
  • You have a relevant degree from university or university of applied sciences (MSc, MBA, BSc or similar)
  • Your thorough understanding of the paper making process and technology allow you to add value to discussions of production issues or development with your team, and contribute to proposing technical or process development solutions
  • You are a skilled people leader with strong influencing and networking skills
  • You are motivated to develop your organization
  • You are a fluent communicator both in Finnish and in English
