Process Engineer, Pilot Area

We are looking for a permanent position a

Process Engineer, Pilot Area

to join our Piloting and Refining Research team in the Technology Centre, Kilpilahti industrial area in Porvoo. We are a medium size of team of experts as part of the Catalysts and Refining department in Neste Innovation. We provide expertise in process and technology development tasks and catalyst testing in pilot scale as well as refinery processes know-how needed in R&D projects and expert services.

Your part in Neste journey

In this role, you will take part in our R&D projects and oil refinery tasks as a Process Engineer working in our piloting projects. Your main responsibilities include 

  • To participate in planning, supervising, and reporting pilot scale experiments made for feedstock pretreatment, process development and catalysts evaluation activities to produce high quality products from fossil, renewable, waste, or recycled feeds.
  • To participate in development activities of our pilot area including equipment, facilities, processes, and operational safety. 

You will work closely with a cross-functional team of pilot operators, researchers, business development, production and various external partners. You will report to R&D project managers and Pilot area R&D manager. Later, you may also work as a project manager.

The keys to success in this position

The best combination of experiences, skills, and background is

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in chemical engineering
  • Min 2-4 years of experience of operation in pilot or production scale
  • Knowledge of chemical process equipment
  • Hands-on attitude and interest on operation 
  • Knowledge and keen interest of safety and HSE-processes
  • Knowledge of Management of Change process (MOC)
  • Good cooperation, communication skills and proactiveness
  • Full professional proficiency in English and Finnish

  • Earlier experience of R&D work
  • Knowledge of biobased, waste, and recycled feedstocks
  • Project management skills
  • Flexibility in working hours during piloting trials
