Our Rock Drills Business Unit is now looking for a proactive and persistent Product Engineer to take over an important piece in the development of Rock Drills digitalization. This is a permanent position and based in Tampere, Finland.

Your mission

As a Product Engineer, your main scope of work is related to planning and implementing testing programs as well as maintaining and developing hardware solutions. The aim of the New Product Development activities is to widen the product scope in an organized manner. It includes sensor system building, prototyping, and testing. Current Product Engineering work consists of site visits, sensor system ramp ups, documentation, and support of various stakeholders. In this position you get to work with Sandvik top professionals and unique RockPulse® sensor technology. The focus is to improve products according to Rock Drills Business Unit strategic ambitions.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Organize and implement testing programs for the new technologies within responsibility area in Sandvik’s test mine, outdoor testing areas and in customer premises
• Maintaining and designing HW solutions
• Guiding SW and mechanical design work
• Participate in sensor solutions development and requirements specification
• Customer visits and trouble shooting
• Stress wave measurements

Your secondary task in this position is to maintain and develop Simulink software platform and make data quality inspections.

Your work will result in feasible sensors system solutions that are easy to maintain and that provide value for our customers. With your help, Sandvik’s drill rigs will be equipped with reliable and high-performance digital solutions.

Your background

You possess a Master’s or Bachelor’s level degree in the area of automation, mechatronics, electrical engineering or equivalent field. Knowledge of Matlab and Matlab Simulink is an asset. You have experience in working with Mobile Machinery and related measurements in the industry. You have hands on and innovative approach to problem solving. You possess enthusiastic attitude to productization. Your customer-oriented mindset reflects to prompt actions in customer support. You can easily adapt and focus between short- and long-term activities. You are a team player with good co-operation, negotiation, and communication skills (both in Finnish and in English).
