Product Line Lifecycle Manager

We are looking for Product Line Lifecycle Manager to join our Product Lifecycle Management team (PLC) in Sandvik’s Attachment Tools Division to speed up our growth journey and to lead and further develop our offerings related to mining, demolition, compaction, and other attachment solutions.

Are you a product professional with strong business acumen and relevant industrial/technical knowledge who can lead and manage both strategic and tactical activities of a business in a diverse and impactful role? Are you excited to resolve customer problems through great products, services and solutions while making them a profitable business over their lifecycles? Are you the business quarterback who can lead cross-functional teams and projects towards the same goals and assume ownership of the process and end results? If your answer was yes, you might be the person that we are looking for.

Within Sandvik Group, we’re passionate about development and advanced technology, and we always aim to offer the best possible experience for our customers. At Attachment Tools Division, we believe that great brands, products, and business performance is achieved through the understanding of markets, customers, and the facts & figures behind our business. We also recognize the importance of storytelling and culture of creativity and innovation which enables us to better serve and communicate with our customers.

In PLC, we consider ourselves as the quarterbacks of our Division. We are responsible for our products to meet with customer needs and expectations while our own financial targets set. This means that we drive, influence, and collaborate across the various functions and levels of our organization. To successfully deliver on our responsibilities, we want to make product portfolio and lifecycle management our organizational strength. For the past 40 years, our core business has been hydraulic breakers, and now we are looking to broaden our position in other application areas of mining and construction sectors. This is where your role can make a difference.

The location for this position is flexible within Sandvik sites in Finland or it can be home office based. However, occasional travel and presence is required in our Division headquarters and factory in Lahti, Finland. The role also requires occasional duty travel globally e.g., to attend conferences & events and to visit dealers/end-customers and partners.

Your role

  • As our Product Line Lifecycle Manager, acting as “CEO of Product”, your mission is to drive our business together with cross-functional stakeholders over the product lifecycle with the aim of exceeding our business expectations and those of our customers.
  • You are responsible for creating, managing, and developing market leading mining, demolition, compaction, and other attachment tools solutions as part of our product portfolio including equipment, aftermarket, services, and digital aspects.
  • At its core, your work is to define product line vision and strategy and translate that into a structured and manageable plan that lays out product portfolio across end-to-end lifecycle stages from draft concepts to new product development/introduction and continuous enhancements/upgrades and to end-of-life.
  • To concretize the plans, you are responsible for developing draft offerings and concepts and assess their potential, impact, and priority in both commercial and non-commercials terms from portfolio, product line and stakeholder points of view and to formalize the resulting initiatives.
  • During the development projects your role is to act as project sponsor supporting project management or lead parts thereof, ensure that cross-functional teams progress into planned direction, facilitate collaboration and discussion to lead project and teams forward, resolve conflicts and decide on priorities, align with portfolio level where required, prepare and present significant approvals.
  • For product launches and sellable products, your responsibilities include oversight and responsibility of commercial success of product line incl. offerings, products (equipment/aftermarket), and projects in terms of financial performance, customer satisfaction, product quality, and availability.

As we are a small organization with global reach, you need to act across a broad spectrum of responsibilities from product line strategy down to managing our aftermarket offerings and making sure that the brand lives up to its promises for our dealers and end-customers. This requires a holistic, analytical, customer, and solutions-oriented mindset to succeed in.

As the role sits in the middle of our strategic ambitions and combines technologically, commercially, and operationally different products serving different customer sectors and applications areas, you play a pivotal role in how we orchestrate our business and organization around this. For this reason, your experience, expertise, and personal strengths will also help us to define the areas of focus in this role.

  • Excellent communication skills in English are a must while Finnish, Spanish and French are considered an advantage.
  • Academically, you should hold master’s degree or higher on a technical and/or commercial discipline with relevant specialization.
