Product Manager, Underground Drilling

Underground Drilling Division within Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions is an industry leading global provider of various drilling solutions for underground mining and construction tunneling industries with focus on technology development and future innovative solutions to enable sustainable operations for our customers.

We are now looking for an innovative and technology focused Product Manager for Underground Drilling Division in Tampere, Finland. This is a permanent position and reporting to Product Line Manager, Mining and Tunneling.

Your mission

You take the lead within our offering development by setting a clear vision and product offering strategy within your corresponding product line. This includes not only technology and product offering roadmaps but also overall business and profitability ownership of your products from market introduction to a product ramp down. One of your key focus areas is to anticipate customer and market needs in both short- and long- term and convert them into practical product and offering requirements for our Engineering and Product Development organizations. You also act as a business case owner and project sponsor for all new product and system development activities within your product line. Your main responsibilities include:

• Technical and commercial ownership of corresponding product line offering
• Competitor monitoring and analysis of the competitive landscape for given product line
• Ensure product specifications, options and pricing are aligned throughout the offering
• Develop and communicate customer value proposition for product portfolio
• Create, develop, and maintain the product portfolio and profitability including pricing and the lifecycle perspective
• Initiate and define requirements and sponsoring of new product development projects of the product line
• Define and size customer segments including gap analysis for the products

Your background

We are looking for innovative and technology focused person with previous experience in driving the product offering development forward. You have several years’ of experience in team, project or other stakeholder management roles and you are comfortable in working within international business environment with capabilities operate on a hands on level and communicate with different interest groups, i.e. customers/product end users, sales & marketing, R&D and engineering and supply chain. You have either commercial or technical university degree (M.Sc./B.Sc.) preferable within the area of automation, electrical engineering or software and systems development.

Energetic personality with a positive mind set along with good presentation and communication skills will help you being successful in this position. Previous experience in working within mining and/or construction tunneling industries is considered as a benefit but not mandatory. Travelling is a natural part of your job.
