Project Manager, Industrial Site Development

Generation division is responsible for the large scale power production, physical optimization and trading activities in the Nordic area. This division comprises nuclear, hydro and wind power production, portfolio management and trading, industrial intelligence and nuclear services.

Your role

Our Business Unit Industrial Electrification supports the growth of power intensive industries all around the Nordics and, together with Uniper, also engage in project development elsewhere in Europe. We evaluate, market and tailor greenfield sites or sites formerly used for energy production or other heavy industrial use. We give the sites new life as locations for customers in power intensive industry by meeting the highest standards of safety and reliability of CO2-free electricity supply.

The scope of our development activities varies by project but typically we provide customers a ready-to-invest industrial site including zoning, safe and strong power grid connection and all additional necessary utility infrastructure tailored for our specific customer’s needs. Site development is provided in close cooperation with respective municipalities, land owners, potential investors/industrial players and other partners.

As Project Manager you will join our expanding team in Espoo, Finland, and take full responsibility over the whole life span of different site development projects.

You will build strong and reliable networks with relevant external stakeholders such as potential investors, municipalities, real estate companies and contractors. By working closely with Fortum internal stakeholders you will orchestrate the full project delivery. This includes, e.g. site screening and assessment, negotiations with land owners, dialogue with the zoning departments of respective municipalities and relevant authorities, preparation of sales material as well as all communication and co-development with potential investors. You will also have a key role in site due diligence processes led by customers and their advisors and consultants, while always making sure safety standard, quality, time and costs are met at Fortum side.

Your qualifications

• You add solid project management experience to our team, preferably acquired within industrial real estate, renewables or other greenfield development projects.
• You have at least 5 year experience in successful complex project manager role. Certificate in project management is an advantage.
• You have a proven track record on project sales and marketing.
• You know the dynamics of the Nordic electricity market.
• You are able to build trustful relationships with high-level decision makers and present them complex topics with confidence.
• You have experience on stakeholder communication and cooperation on local, regional and national level.
• You are familiar with infrastructure project site due diligence as well as land sale and purchase processes.
• Good knowledge on land use planning and licensing process is needed.
• A MSc degree within engineering or equivalent is required for this role.
• Given the location and focus of this position, fluent written and spoken English and Finnish is required.
