The Business Unit Automation aspart of Business Area Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology is driving an exciting revolutionary transformation of the Mining industry. This industry is going totally digital, which has a radical impact on our customers’ way of thinking, their processes and the way they run their business. Our offerings today include solutions for fully automated and robotic mining machines for underground and surface mining applications (AutoMine®). Sandvik also has the best in class software solutions (OptiMine®) for creating a full-process transparency and control for mining operations including location tracking in GPS denied environments, real time 3D-imaging, artificial intelligence and predictive data analytics technologies.
We are currently looking for a Project Manager for leading Automation R&D Projects, including new product development and product improvement projects. You will be leading the cross-functional project team and working in co-operation with the project stakeholders from various functions and divisions. This is a permanent role based in Tampere reporting to the NPD Project Office Manager.
You have overall responsibility of project management in specific Automation R&D projects. Responsibilities include planning, leading, monitoring, executing, and controlling of the project within the specified scope and quality. You will also be given an opportunity to further develop the project management and -control processes and way of working. Your key responsibilities are:
- Leading cross functional project team with participants from product development, product lines, supply, and aftermarket
- Project planning and scheduling: Preparation of the project proposals; creating
and updating the project plans. Preparation of work breakdown structure, resource planning and budget
- Executing the projects according to Sandvik project model and methods, including scope control and change management, risk assessment and mitigation and regular project reporting
- Managing the project cost and schedule by controlling cost and progress of the project activities across the project lifetime in engineering, procurement, manufacturing and testing
- Further development of project model and best practices
Your skills & qualifications
You have a university level technical education (M.Sc. or B.Sc. in relevant field) and have experience in project management positions, preferably by leading product development or engineering projects. Prior experience in advanced vehicles or industrial automation technology is a strong benefit. You have excellent leadership, change management, networking, presentation, and negotiation skills. You work proactively and systematically and are a strong problem solver even under pressure. Our organization is truly multicultural, so you are also fluent in English.
