Public Affairs at Fortum

Corporate Public Affairs is an international team of 15 members in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Germany and Belgium. Our purpose is to ensure a good and supportive operational environment for all Fortum's business areas in all our countries of operation. We facilitate the successful development and implementation of Fortum's strategy by compiling and assessing information related to future policy and legislative developments and through pro-active, constructive and transparent lobbying in our operating countries. We contribute to Fortum's image as an constructive partner in policy developments.

Corporate Public Affairs is dealing with a whole spectrum of energy, climate and circular economy related policies and regulation, including an increasing attention to ESG issues.

About the role

We are looking for a an experienced public affairs expert to join the Public Affairs team in Finland.

Your key focus areas as a Public Affairs Manager will be electricity market development and nuclear energy related policy and legislative development as well as influencing in those processes both in Finland and the EU.

A solid understanding on key drivers and developments relating to electricity markets and nuclear is essential for successful execution in this position. Your responsibilities will include monitoring and analysing related policy and legislative documents and translating complex issues to clear messages in support of Fortum's strategy implementation. In this position your responsibility is to represent Fortum in external collaboration forums. We hope you to have existing networks in this area and want you to expand them effectively.

In addition to your main responsibility areas you will be expected to contribute to various internal processes and topics relevant for the Public Affairs team. 

You will work closely with Fortum's relevant business divisions and corporate functions. You will report to Head of Public Affairs, Finland.

Your place of employment will be in Fortum’s headquarters in Espoo, Finland.

What we are looking for

We expect you to have a higher university degree in relevant field, such as energy engineering, politics or economics. Studies in EU law and/or energy legislation are an additional merit.

You should have at least five years of relevant experience in working with power market issues. To be successful in this role you are passionate about energy transition, with experience and personality suitable for interest promotion. We appreciate strong analytical skills.

You are used to working independently, but are also a strong team player.

Excellent written and spoken Finnish and English. Other languages are considered an advantage.
