We are now looking for a (Senior) Development Engineer / Researcher to the Paper R&D in UPM Research Center in Lappeenranta, Finland.

What you’ll do 

  • Cooperate with UPM’s production units, providing expertise and analysis services
  • Take part in researching different fibers, wet-end chemistry, and related analytics with our paper production units’ personnel on sites as well as with desk and lab studies
  • Perform and manage research activities that require experience and knowledge
  • Ensure activities are improving performance
  • Document, communicate and implement research / development findings
  • Collaborate with internal and external networks and find new and better alternatives
  • Develop and maintain technical expertise about chemistry and physical science

Who you are 

  • You have MSc degree or higher in Pulp or Paper Technology or in Chemistry and at least 5 years’ work experience
  • You have deep knowledge in chemical pulps and paper making chemistry
  • You can easily work both independently and in teams, solve problems and complete assignments effectively 
  • You have the capability to build and utilize global professional network 
  • You are proactive, customer oriented, socially skilled and interested in new technology and development 
  • You are willing to travel and ready to work in process conditions at mills
  • You speak Finnish and English fluently, German is seen as an asset
