We are now looking for an experienced

Solution Architect

to make intuitive high level decisions for software development. You will see the “big picture” and create architectural approaches for software design and implementation to guide the development teams.

A great Solution Architect has a strong technical background and excellent IT skills. They are experienced in designing and possess ability to develop a unified vision for software characteristics and functions. This is combined with strong social skills and the ability to collaboratively lead development teams and developers towards the common vision.

You will be working in a technical environment that is built on a wide array of technologies. To successfully work with the overall architecture, a broad perspective of different technologies and their integrations is helpful. We deploy applications to both AWS and Azure and we also have many services deployed in a data center, with multiple secure networks connecting the environments. Our development teams use Python, Java and TypeScript a lot but also have a lot of code in .NET, Scala, Clojure and many other languages. We have a strong focus on React-based user interface development but we also have mobile applications for both Android and iOS. We are also building a lot on Kafka, GraphQL and have a lot of work ongoing on event driven real time data streaming applications.

You are not expected to be a top expert in all these technologies, but you would need to have a good understanding with at least many of them, along with the ability to steer the architectural direction of multiple highly experienced development teams using these technologies to develop towards a robust architecture that combines the individual services to a stable, high-performance service to end-customers.

In this role you will:

• Collaborate with development teams and developers to determine functional and non-functional requirements for new software or applications
• Collaborate with business stakeholders and help translate the business requirements to technical designs
• Develop high-level technical specifications with attention to system integration and feasibility
• Define and direct all aspects of development from appropriate technology and workflow to coding standards, together with the development teams
• Communicate successfully all concepts and guidelines between development teams and business stakeholders
• Oversee and direct the progress of development teams to ensure consistency with initial design
• Provide technical guidance and coaching to developers and engineers
• Ensure that software meets all requirements of quality, security, modifiability, extensibility etc.

Your background and skills:

• Experience and deep knowledge of software development in multiple programming languages and platforms
• Solid understanding of computer networks, cloud environments and modern cloud architectures
• Excellent knowledge of software and application design and architecture
• Understanding of software quality assurance principles
• Understanding of information security, vulnerability assessments, etc.
• A technical mindset with great attention to detail
• High quality organizational and leadership skills
• Outstanding communication and presentation abilities
