About the role

We are looking for a Technology Expert in bioprocesses and biological carbon capture to join our Waste to Materials program in Fortum Recycling and Waste. You will be our leading expert on applied microbiology, advising on technology solutions, experimental setup and strategy in feasibility studies, projects and R & D related activities. You are responsible for technology monitoring and scouting on emerging and competing biological process  technologies for CO2 utilization.

You will be part of a dynamic and agile organization with experienced colleagues with a diverse background in technology and circular economy. You will be working in close co-operation with project partners, different business development units, as well as other internal and external stakeholders. As a part of the core team, you will prepare and coordinate various tasks related to biological CCU selection and concept studies under existing and future projects. Home office can be in any Fortum location in Finland or Sweden, other Nordic countries might be an option as well.

What we are looking for

You have at least 5 years of experience in working with bioprocesses and experienced in biological carbon  utilization technologies and a proven track record of fermentation pilot or investment projects. You have a good understanding of  complex bioprocesses as well as hydrogen production and CO2 utilization technologies. Prior experience in project coordination or management is a valuable asset in the position.

Ideally, you have a PhD within Biotechnology, Applied and Industrial Microbiology, Chemical Engineering,rocess engineering or similar.

We expect you to have an entrepreneurial mindset, but still a systematic and structured way of working and the ability to coordinate multiple tasks with several stakeholders at a time. We value ability to use knowledge in new and innovative ways to develop and conceptualize new ideas towards working solutions.

You have good communication and presentation skills as well as networking skills both externally and internally. You are comfortable with working on complex projects within a large organization. Fluency in English is necessary, Finnish and Swedish are considered as an advantage.
