Ville, Director of Product Development
I studied 3D planning systems and software technology. Now I am the Director for Product Development in the Trimble Structures division. We are developing Tekla product family. This includes Tekla Structures, Tekla Structural Designer and Tekla Tedds. Our products are used across globe in all kind of construction projects from engineering phase to detailing and through fabrication to actual construction phase.
I have worked in the company since 1997 in different positions - as a Programmer, Application Manager, Product Manager and Product Offering Manager. In 2013 I moved to Colorado for assignment for 3 years to lead development team with 6 sites across globe. Now I am again back in Finland and enjoying new challenges with our world leading products and large international team.
I really like to meet our enthusiastic customers. They are really changing the construction industry. When I travel, I see our customer’s signature construction project everywhere around the world – airports, stadiums, skyscrapers, bridges, power plants, wind mills, residential buildings and even artistic sculptures. That gives a feeling that I have been part of something bigger and I have contributed something. I simply love it.
Kreeta, Group Manager
I did my Bachelor's degree of Information Technology in Oulu University of Applied Sciences and my specialization was in embedded systems. In my third year I studied in the UK, at Birmingham City University (formerly known as The University of Central England in Birmingham). As you can imagine, this exchange program was a super fun and interesting experience for a young wannabe-engineer.
After getting my BSc. degree in 2002, I worked at Nokia for seven years creating L1 software to 3G/WCDMA systems. If you have ever owned a Nokia 3G phone that is now 5-10 years old, you have carried a piece software around in your pocket that I've written. After the Nokia era, the next thing I got involved was in entrepreneurial activities, when I was one of the founding members of Yritystakomo, where new business was developed from ideas to start-ups. Unfortunately I didn't get very far in that before I moved from Oulu to Espoo, so I had to literally move to new challenges.
After a short detour, I found myself in an interview at Tekla (as the company was called at that time) for a C++ software engineer position, while I also had two offers from other companies. I picked Tekla mostly because the products are so interesting and also because people are genuinely seen as valued assets of the company. Many companies claim that, but the reality reaches only midway. And what's really good is that it has not changed when Tekla became part of Trimble. Currently I am a Group Manager, but I do also have time for coding.
I love the diversity of different solutions Trimble brings to the world. It's a truly global company with very intelligent solutions and I'm proud to be part of that!
